Schrade SCHF9 Extreme Survival Knife

in Tools

This is a large, thick, and heavy knife, with a 6.5 inch blade (12.3 inches overall length), 1/4 inch thick until near the point and weighing just under one pound. The blade is made from 8Cr13MoV high carbon chromium stainless steel (1095), also used in some Kershaw, Spyderco and other knife brands. The black, rubberized, Kraton polymer, textured TPE handle grips are bolted to the full tang and offer a firm molded grip for a large hand and leave space for a landyard hole at the end of the handle. The knife comes with a ballistic nylon belt sheath that includes a removable storage pouch (firestarter?) and a cord that can be used either as a landyard or as a leg strap. The knife feels great in my hand, the sheath feels great on my leg and the price is right at $34.99. My Becker BK-2 used to be my favorite all purpose heavy knife, but now this Schrade is. I think I’m gonna buy a second one.
