The Paleo diet suggests that our bodies are designed to eat a diet established by our paleolithic ancestors and their hunting, foraging life style. The food sources we have today are very different from the small amounts of lean animal meat, and naturally produced fruits and vegetables that they had available. Today, our meat sources are fattened by feeding them large amounts of grain which are often supplemented with substances to make them grow larger and faster. Our own diet is too often filled with foods based on refined carbohydrates that our ancestors never ate. The end result is insulin imbalances, obesity, and a variety of ailments associated with the change in our diet. The Paleo diet attempts to return to a food-style that suits our bodies and our digestive system and allows us to return to a normal healthy body state.
